7 Days Rwanda Safari Holiday gives you an opportunity to explore the country’s most visited national parks of Akagera National Park to see the country’s wildlife and enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, Nyungwe Forest for chimpanzee tracking, and Volcanoes national park for mountain gorilla trekking, golden monkeys and visit the Iby’Iwacu culture village to explore the Rwanda cultures.
Day1: Kigali – Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked by the company representative who will brief you about your safari trip and later you take you for a city tour in Kigali where you will be able to visit Gisozi Genocide Memorial, local markets, handicrafts shops and many other exceptional tourist centers within the city. After the city tour we shall have lunch then transfer to Akagera National Park east of Rwanda 2- 3hours’ drive. In the afternoon, you will head out for an amazing sunset boat cruise on Lake Ihema and here, expect to view various aquatic wildlife species like hippopotami and crocodiles among others. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. Meal plan: F/B
Day2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
Rise a bit early and with your morning cup of coffee, set off for a wonderful morning game drive through the savannah woodlands to have clear glimpse of various wildlife species among which include the hyenas, lions, Impalas, buffaloes, elephants and zebras etc. Return to your lodge mid – morning, relax and in the afternoon, step out for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema for aquatic wildlife viewing like the hippopotami, crocodiles and birds at the shores of the lake. Day3: Akagera – Nyungwe Forest National Park
After your morning breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park south east, en route; You will have lunch in Butare town which is the 2nd town in Rwanda and cultural capital. This city hosts the university and the National Museum with very rewarding handicraft shops hand crafts shops where typical products made by Rwandan artisans are sold. Later proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guesthouse. Meal Plan: F/B
Day4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
After breakfast, you will assemble at the Nyungwe Forest Park offices to be briefed on the chimpanzee tracking expedition. On your way to the forest expect to view other primate’s species like vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey, and baboons, among others during this search; enjoy an hour with the chimpanzees watching and observing their behavior before retrieving to the starting point for your return to the lodge. In the afternoon, engage in a guided Canopy walk and expect to see bird species, butter flies and tree species. After the experience, retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day5: Nyungwe Forest – Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast and proceed with a road trip to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze province with en route lunch, enjoy the beautiful views of the rolling hills and green vegetation. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Muhabura. Meal plan: F/B
Day6: Mountain Gorilla Safari and IbyI’wacu Cultural Visit
Enjoy an early morning breakfast as you transfer to the park headquarters in Kinigi. Assemble at the park head offices by 7:00am for morning briefing on the trekking guidelines before taking onto your adventurous expedition. Usually, it takes about 30 minutes to several hours to encounter the mountain gorillas; but once you find them, enjoy an hour with them before retrieving to the starting point for your gorilla tracking certificates of Participation before retrieving your lodge. Later in the afternoon, head out for the Iby’Iwacu Cultural tour for a clearer understanding of the Rwandese Culture. Retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day7: Golden Monkey – Kigali for Departure
Have an early morning breakfast and retrieve the Kinigi park offices by 7:00am for morning briefing on the golden monkey tracking code of conduct. Unlike mountain gorillas, golden monkeys exist in large families and can be seen jumping from one tree branch to another; playing and looking for food. You are granted an hour with the playful creatures before returning to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, check out of your hotel and transfer back to Kigali for your flight back home.
