The 3 days Nyiragongo Hike takes you to Virunga National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo to avail you with an adventure hike to the most active volcano in the world with fascinating views of the lava lake as you chill out for a night at the crater rim. This safari starts and ends in Kigali with an optional boat cruise of Lake Kivu.
Day 1: Kigali – Gisenyi/Goma border
Following your breakfast at your lodge/hotel in Kigali, you will be picked up and transferred to Gisenyi the largest of all Lake Kivu towns. The place offers beautiful beach environment suitable for relaxation captivating views of islands and far sights of the Nyiragongo Volcano and optional opportunity for boat cruise. Day 2: Nyiragongo Hike Safari
After taking your morning breakfast, proceed to cross the border with Congo to the town of Goma which is the capital of the North Kivu province. After covering all the requirements at the border, you will be picked up by the Virunga guide and transferred to the Virunga Headquarter for briefing about the Nyiragongo Volcano hike. The briefing is set to embark on the day long adventure hike to the one of the few remaining active and violent volcanoes in Africa. The hike is rewarding lasting 7-8 hour hike through lush rainforest will climax with a fascinating view of this lava lake as you enjoy a night at the crater rim. Day 3: Descend the Volcano and transfer to Kigali
Following your breakfast in the morning, descend the volcano for a transfer back to Gisenyi where you will later transfer to Kigali for an overnight or a late flight back home.
